The Strawberry Jam is the story of Mrs. Doodle, a ’90s housewife who is frugal in every possible way. She’s frugal with her family’s weekly shopping list; her own diet; and her own desires. During a day of otherwise stringent budgeting, she finds herself tempted by a jar of gourmet strawberry jam. When her menacing husband inevitably ruins her careful plans, Mrs. Doodle finally makes room for herself in the family budget—one way or another.
